2008 study reveals region's broadband footprint

Virginia¹s Region 2000 Local Government Council recently completed a 2008 Broadband Infrastructure Study detailing broadband technologies, service plans, and coverage data within the region.

The study includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell, the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg, and the towns of Altavista, Amherst, Appomattox, Brookneal, and Pamplin.

The study identified approximately 20 broadband providers with service plans ranging from $20-$200 per month and varied service coverage throughout the region. Generally, the study found that areas of dense population within the region have the best coverage while rural communities have the least.
