Tech Council kicks off robotics competition

The Region 2000 Technology Council and the Future Focus Foundation have kicked off the first ever Junior FIRST Lego League season in Central Virginia. Fourteen teams of kids ages 6-9 will meet over the coming weeks to research the “Smart Moves” challenge. They will design, build, and program an original model complete with moving parts using the We-Do Lego Education kit and software.

The Junior FIRST program aligns with the Tech Council’s vision for Virginia’s Region 2000 to be recognized as a place where technology-focused organizations thrive, STEM educational programs flourish, and innovation and technology-based entrepreneurship is championed.

Teams will gather on May 1, 2010 at TC Miller Elementary School for a Junior FIRST tournament where they will share the results of their research, display their robots, and receive recognition for their achievements.
