Regional water supply meeting to be held July 31

Virginia's Region 2000 Local Government Council, in conjunction with its member jurisdictions, will hold its third Water Supply Planning meeting on Thursday, July 31, 4 - 6 pm at the Lynchburg Public Library Community Meeting Room, 2315 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg.

At this meeting, current planning efforts will be reviewed, including discussion of current water supplies and demand, projected water demand over a 50-year planning horizon, and potential alternatives for serving future needs.

The Region 2000 Water Supply Plan is being developed to ensure that the region's communities have the water resources needed to support sustainable growth and economic development. The planning group is made up of 12 local governments and four service authorities. Participating jurisdictions include the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg, the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Nelson, and the towns of Altavista, Amherst, Appomattox, Brookneal and Pamplin. The Amherst County Service Authority, Campbell County Utilities and Service Authority, Bedford County Public Service Authority, and Nelson County Public Service Authority also participate.

The public is invited to attend and may provide input into the plan. For more information, please contact Bob White, Deputy Director, Virginia's Region 2000 Local Government Council, at 434-845-3491.
