Amherst County Administrator Appointed

The Amherst County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on October 6, 2009, to appoint C. Lee Lintecum to the position of Amherst County Administrator, effective October 15, 2009. The offer was made following a lengthy selection process involving roughly 30 candidates. The Board of Supervisors worked with an appointed review committee made up of human resource professionals living in Amherst County.

Lintecum brings more than 27 years of experience in local government administration to his new role. Since 2000, he served as County Administrator for Louisa County where he managed daily operations for one of the fastest growing counties in the Commonwealth. During his time there, he persuaded Wal-Mart to invest $80 million for a food distribution center, creating more than 800 new jobs.

Lintecum has also served throughout the years as County Administrator in Smyth County and Henry County, Virginia and he worked for six years as Director of Marketing and Development for the Stanley W. Bowles Corporation & Affiliates in Martinsville, Virginia.

Lintecum is an advocate for planned growth that allows quality economic expansion while preserving land for open space.

Lintecum holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Virginia Tech. In his new position, he will be responsible for managing the county budget, supervising county departments, and serving as an advisor to the Board of Supervisors on all matters related to county operations.

“I am honored to be appointed by the board and I look forward to working for the board and benefitting the citizens of Amherst County,” Lintecum said.
