Recruit separated and retired military at Hampton job fair held Oct. 21
Virginia's Region 2000 Economic Development Council and the Workforce Investment Board is once again making plans to support our country's military veterans and their families by participating in the Fall Military Job Fair of Virginia at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. The event is held on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Now in its 22nd year, this semiannual event is hailed as "one of the biggest and best job fairs on the East Coast." It is open to active-duty and recently separated military members, retired military members, reservists, DoD civilians, and their dependants. In April, seven local companies joined the Region 2000 staff at the Spring event and at least four of the companies plan to go back in October at the Fall event.
There is room for your company too! Please contact Traci Blido or call 847-1447.

A shared landfill for our region
Starting July 1, Lynchburg's existing landfill becomes the Concord Turnpike Regional Landfill, serving the counties of Appomattox, Campbell, and Nelson, and the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg. The Local Government Council coordinated the work of the member jurisdictions to regionalize landfill operations in an effort to lower costs and improve efficiency through shared resources. The Region 2000 Services Authority, a new organization formed to deliver services in the region, will manage the landfill and explore other shared services that may benefit the region in the future.
Landfill guidelines and information can be found here or call the Concord Turnpike Regional Landfill at 434-455-6086.
