"Determining our Future" campaign is launched
Virginia's Region 2000 Partnership launched its five-year public/private fundraising campaign recently to continue to strengthen our region's ability to compete effectively for quality jobs and new capital investment. Thirteen area leaders are serving as co-chairs for the "Determining our Future: Together We Grow" campaign aimed at raising $3.95 million in five-year pledges to carry out its strategic priorities from 2012-2016. Four of the Partnership's six organizations will benefit from the campaign: Economic Development Council, Technology Council, Center for Advanced Engineering & Research, and the Young Professionals of Central Virginia. The Workforce Investment Board is funded through the federally funded Workforce Investment Act, while the Local Government Council operates from local government participation, state resources and project management/contract fees.
The campaign leaders have set five priorities for Partnership staff to focus on in its work plan: Innovation, Workforce Development, Business Retention and Recruitment, Regional Marketing, and identifying opportunities for Collaboration.
