CAER to offer LabVIEW Academy Core III Course Classes held on Fridays: April 29, May 6, and May 9 at CVCC
The Center for Advanced Engineering and Research (CAER) will offer LabVIEW Core III on three consecutive Fridays beginning April 29 at Central Virginia Community College (CVCC). LabVIEW graphical programming has revolutionized the development of test, measurement and control applications. | Local Government Council to hold annual dinner meeting on April 21
Secretary of Transportation Sean T. Connaughton set to address crowd
 Virginia's Region 2000 Local Government Council will hold its annual dinner and networking event on Thursday, April 21, 2011 with a networking reception starting at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. at Sweet Briar College, Wailes Lounge - Elston Conference Center, 450 Sweet Briar Dr., Sweet Briar, Virginia.
Sean T. Connaughton, Secretary of Transportation for the Commonwealth, will be the guest speaker. As Secretary, he oversees seven state agencies with more than 9,700 employees and combined annual budgets of $4 billion.

Virginia's Region 2000 Technology Council will present Mobile Computing for Business and Education at its next Wired Wednesday luncheon on April 27, 2011 from noon - 1:30 p.m. at the City of Lynchburg Information Technology Center, 3150 Young Place, Lynchburg.
Learn how Lynchburg City Schools are integrating mobile technologies in the classroom and learn the pros and cons of handheld devices and phones, the rising use of the tablet PC and how these devices can be integrated into your IT plan or work environment.

Lynchburg Airshow to attract thousands of visitors and aviation enthusiasts
 The U.S. Navy's elite Blue Angels are confirmed to delight a crowd at the Lynchburg Regional Airshow set for May 21 and 22, 2011 at the Lynchburg Regional Airport. The Flying Circus Airshow of Bealton, Virginia will join the Blue Angels and there will be other highlights such as a vintage fashion show and a vintage car show for the two day air spectacular. According to Airshow Director John D. Barksdale, this is the first time in 29 years that Lynchburg is set to host a regional airshow and he said similar shows in Virginia locations have drawn more than 50,000 attendees. Barksdale and other promoters say this airshow could provide a $5 million boost to the Lynchburg economy and draw thousands of visitors to the region.

Next CEDS public meeting set for Wed., April 13
A public meeting is set for Wed., April 13, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the Lynchburg public library where interested citizens can hear about project implementation plans for the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) document and weigh in on progress made.
At the last CEDS Project Team meeting held in February, team members discussed the relevance of projects that were submitted by localities and organizations during the CEDS process and how well they relate to the region's economic development goals. The team will meet again May 11 to establish performance measures for the goals and objectives identified.
