Region 2000 Technology Council Newsletter
In the tradition of past December newsletters, let me offer
you my top picks for this year’s hottest gadgets for the
nerds in your life. Put one of these under the Christmas
tree in your house and you’ll be more popular than Napolean
Dynamite.
The Airzooka Air Gun - it’ll blow you away, literally
The Barbasol Can Safe - for hiding your dinosaur embryos
(Jurassic Park)
A Demotivator Lithograph – sometimes you have to laugh
at yourself, like now
The Albert Einstein Action Figure – brains over brawn
baby
Spazzstick Caffeinated Lip Balm - a lip smacking buzz
On a serious note, let me say thank you for making 2005 a
successful year for the Technology Council; we have
accomplished a lot together and we’ll do even more in 2006.
Now, take a few days off for crying out loud and enjoy the
Holidays with your family and friends. Wishing you a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Jonathan Whitt, Executive Director

Building a Digital Foundation
Download Governor's IT Progress Report
In 2002, Governor Warner set a vision for sweeping reform in
his Strategic Plan for Technology. Bipartisan support in the
General Assembly for the Public Private Educational
Facilities and Infrastructure Act made these innovative
solutions possible. A report summarizing that process,
entitled
“Building a Digital Foundation: Reporting Back to the
Commonwealth of Virginia” (pdf, 6.6 Mb) is available on
the Secretary of Technology Web site at

US First Robotics Team
Mentors Needed for Robotics Team
Over the last few years, a team of regional students have
competed in the FIRST Robotics competition. This
international competition provides students with an
opportunity to develop real world skills in the area of
design and operation of robotics technology. Once again we
will be fielding a team of students from various regional
high schools for 2006 event. The team of students has
already begun their work leading to the competition on March
2-4 in Richmond.
Volunteers from business and the technical community are
needed to work with the students. A mentors' meeting will be
held on December 15 at 5:30 PM for any interested
volunteers. The primary need is for engineering mentors that
can provide the students with guidance through the design
process. Please consider providing some of your time and
expertise for this project. If you are interested in helping
or would like more information please contact Anthony
Cordozza at cardozaaa@lcsedu.net to get additional details
