B&W Announces Testing Facility at CAER

The Babcock & Wilcox company announced Tuesday that it would locate its B&W mPower™ Integrated System Test facility to the Center for Advanced Engineering and Research in Bedford County. The facility will house a scaled prototype of the mPower™ reactor that will undergo extensive testing to test the reactor design and safety performance.

The CAER was selected to house the IST test facility after an extensive evaluation of various sites. A $2.4 million grant by the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission was a key factor in the decision to locate to the CAER.
