Future Focus EXPO 2010 spotlights careers for next generation of workers
September 15, 2010
Virginia’s Region 2000 Technology Council will
host the region’s Fifth Annual Future Focus EXPO on Tuesday, October 12 from 11
a.m. – 9 p.m. at Liberty University’s Tolsma Indoor Track.
The EXPO is a science and technology career exploration event for middle
and high school students and their parents. It features more than 50
interactive displays from local companies and is designed to educate families
on promising careers found in the region. Area students will also participate
in a series of technology challenges that are geared to stir creativity,
challenge young minds, and teach valuable problem solving skills.
“We want our region’s students to know that there are careers for them right
here,” said Jonathan Whitt, executive director of the Tech Council. “If we can
pique their interest in local, high paying, high demand careers at a young age,
they – and the companies exhibiting – will be at a clear advantage.”
Pre-scheduled school groups will attend from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., while students
and their parents are welcome anytime from 4 – 9 p.m.
Exhibitor fees were reduced this year to as little as $75. There are a limited
number of exhibitor spaces still available. Local companies may register by
phone at 434-847-1447 or on the web at www.futurefocusexpo.com.
