Development
The Region 2000 Economic Development Council is a public/private
partnership of seven localities in Central Virginia with a strong commitment
to economic and business development. Participating localities
making up this 2000 square mile area include the counties of Amherst,
Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell, the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford,
and the Town of Altavista.
The Virginia's Region 2000 Technology Council is another
important partner in our economic development program. The Technology
Council offers services to foster innovation and growth within the region's
technology sector. The Technology Council also works with recruiting
technology based firms to Region 2000. www.r2ktech.org

Workforce Development
The Workforce Investment Board brings together business and
government leaders to develop regional policies and priorities for improving
the capability of the workforce in Region 2000. Through the Region
2000 Career Center a variety of training and counseling services
are offered to assist both workers and businesses meet workforce development
needs.
