Residential Guidelines
Unlimited trips, up to 500 pounds per month (for City of Lynchburg and Campbell County Residents)
You may bring up to 500 pounds of household waste per calendar month to the landfill for free. You will be charged 35 cents for each 20 pounds over the 500-pound limit per month. Residents will be asked to verify their city or county residency with a valid driver’s license or current utility bill (within the last two months).
Other accepted items: Unlimited trips and unlimited weight
(no charge unless otherwise noted)
- Unlimited separated loads of brush. (No trash or other items mixed in.)
- Unlimited separated loads of bulky waste (furniture, household appliances, rugs, etc).
- Inert materials such as clean dirt, brick, block, concrete without rebar. Inert materials must be less than one cubic foot pieces and brought in separate loads. Please notify scale house cashier at inbound scale. Landfill staff will inspect the load.
- Used oil tanks and propane tanks (both ends cut and rinsed out thoroughly).
- Tires under 23 inches
- 15" rim size or less - $2 charge per tire
- 15.5" to 22.5" - $4 charge per tire
Unacceptable items
Liquids should be handled separately. Hazardous household waste such as used oil, oil-based paints, brake fluids, etc., can be brought to the landfill during household hazardous waste collection days (see chart). Thank you for doing your part o help keep toxic materials out of the landfill and sewer systems.

Guidelines for City of Bedford, Appomattox County, and Nelson County Residents
Your community’s trash collection procedures and trash disposal locations will not change. You will continue to use your community’s transfer station or convenience centers as you do today.
Guidelines for Campbell County Residents
The upgraded Landfill Center (Livestock Road across from Foster Fuels on Rte. 29) and other convenience centers located throughout the county will continue to be available for your use. For extra large loads (up to 500 pounds), please use the new Concord Turnpike Regional Landfill.
