Central Virginia Long Range Transportation Plan

The Central Virginia Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a document intended to guide the Central Virginia area in creating a more efficient, responsive, and environmentally-sensitive transportation system over the next twenty to twenty-five years. The Plan examines transportation issues and trends and offers a list of specific projects for addressing the area’s mobility needs. The MPO is required to update the Plan every five years.

Potential Mitigation Discussion

Central Virginia Transportation Improvement Program

The Central Virginia Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a three year schedule of all federally funded and regionally significant transportation projects to be implemented in the urbanized area. To receive federal funding, transportation projects must be approved by the CVMPO and included in the TIP. Typically, projects included in the TIP have originated in LRTP. The CVMPO generally updates the TIP each year.
