REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) FOR REGION 2000 ENTRPRENEURSHIP INITIATIVE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION: Virginia’s Region 2000 Partnership’s Economic Development Council is soliciting proposals for consulting services from qualified individuals or firms to develop the Region 2000 Entrepreneurship Initiative for Higher Education.

RIDE SOLUTIONS COMMUTER INITIATIVE & SURVEY: Virginia's Region 2000 Local Government Council (LGC) has been offered the opportunity to join Roanoke-Valley Aleghany Regional Commission and the New River Valley Planning District in their successful RIDE Solutions program, a regional alternative transportation service that provides free commuting match services to residents in the greater Roanoke and Blacksburg area.

The LGC and the EDC is interested in hearing from local business leaders to gauge the value of expanding the commuter matching service to our area of Virginia. Specifically, we are asking that you complete a 3-minute RIDE Solutions Survey (below) and return to Kelly Hitchcock at the LGC office.

REGION 2000 LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL SEEKS PROPOSALS TO OBTAIN FINANCING FOR RADIO BOARD: Virginia’s Region 2000 Local Government Council (“Council”) is seeking proposals to obtain financing for upgrades to the Central Virginia Radio Communication Board’s Regional Emergency Communication System (“System”).

HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE PROCESS: Region 2000 is currently updating the Hazard Mitigaiton Plan for the Region. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is a tool used to increase the emphasis on pre-disaster planning and funding. Local governments are required to adopt FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plans in order to qualify for pre and post disaster federal hazard mitigation funding.
