Lynchburg Community Trust Gives STEM Grant for Local Junior FIRST LEGO League

January 28, 2011

The Future Focus Foundation, an educational non-profit organization supporting youth programs of the Region 2000 Technology Council, received a $2,700 grant this week from the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust’s Faye Marcum Mifka Fund.

The grant will be used to sponsor area 6-9 year olds to participate in Junior FIRST LEGO League, a program that encourages kids to solve a real-world challenge through research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, students work with LEGO elements and moving parts to create solutions and present them at the Lynchburg Regional Junior FIRST LEGO Expo on Saturday, April 30 at Timberlake Christian School.
