New director appointed to YPCV
Abram "Abe" Loper is appointed as the new
executive director of the Young Professionals of Central Virginia (YPCV), a
non-profit organization within Virginia's Region 2000 Partnership that is
focused on attracting and retaining young adults, in support of area companies.
Loper comes to Region 2000 from Chicago, IL where he most recently worked as a
regional sales executive for a large telecommunications company. Prior to that,
he worked in the mortgage industry and for a non-profit missions organization
where he was responsible for fund raising and working with major universities
to recruit young adults.
Loper holds a bachelor of arts in English and visual arts from Albion College
in Michigan. He will work closely with the YPCV Council and the Region 2000
Economic Development Council to further strengthen the strategy for engaging
young professionals who live and work in Central Virginia. He will also seek
input from area businesses and universities to develop and execute a
recruitment strategy focused on attracting young professionals to the region.
"Abe brings experience and energy to this position and will serve as a vital
ally in our region's economic development efforts," says R. Bryan David,
executive director of Virginia's Region 2000 Economic Development Council.
Through the YPCV Council, Loper will provide direction and support to the
Connect, Grow, and Live Committees, that are focused on helping young
professionals connect through social events, grow and develop professionally
with seminars and special events, and enjoy living in Central Virginia by
getting them involved in community service.
The YPCV is one of six partner organizations that make up Virginia's Region
2000 Partnership, a network of organizations with a centralized vision to
provide regional development leadership within the 2,000 square miles that
surround Lynchburg, Virginia.
