Academy of Fine Arts

The Academy of Fine Arts is the core of Lynchburg’s visual and performing arts activity, offering a lively slate of concerts and plays. Housed in the vintage 1905 Academy of Music Theatre in downtown Lynchburg, the Academy of Fine Arts is in the midst of a renovation and restoration project that will soon result in an entire complex of studio, gallery, and auditorium space.

Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA)

Located in Amherst County near Sweet Briar College, the VCCA is the largest working retreat for professional writers, artists, and composers in the country.

Culture on Campus

Area colleges and universities continually bring world-famous speakers and performers to local audiences. Colleges in the region also maintain galleries and collections that include works by highly celebrated visual artists.

Virginia School of the Arts

Offers a college preparatory program for boarding students in grades 7-12, complemented by expert instruction from noted dancers and artists.

Richmond Coliseum
Located in the state capital, approximately 2 hours from Region 2000, this 13,000-seat venue, accommodates major sporting events, concerts, shows, and conventions.
