Sustainable Communities Workshop

Region 2000 Local Government Council and the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association are hosting a workshop that features presentations and panel discussions on best practices and experiences from local communities on issues facing local governments, including water supply planning, historic & open space preservation, broadband connectivity for rural areas, and energy-saving initiatives.

Panelists include:

Bob Carter, Director, Community Services Division, Virginia Dept. of Historic Resources
Karen Jackson, Deputy Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Scott Kudlas, Director of Water Supply Resources, Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality
Joe Lerch, Director of Environmental Policy, Virginia Municipal League

The workshop will also feature a walking tour of Historic Centertown Bedford, a Virginia Main Street designated commercial district. The tour will be followed by an informal reception.
