Sustainable Communities Workshop
Region 2000 Local Government Council and the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association are hosting a workshop that features presentations and panel discussions on best practices and experiences from local communities on issues facing local governments, including water supply planning, historic & open space preservation, broadband connectivity for rural areas, and energy-saving initiatives.
Panelists include:
- Bob Carter, Director, Community Services Division, Virginia Dept. of Historic Resources
- Karen Jackson, Deputy Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Scott Kudlas, Director of Water Supply Resources, Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality
- Joe Lerch, Director of Environmental Policy, Virginia Municipal League
The workshop will also feature a walking tour of Historic Centertown Bedford, a Virginia Main Street designated commercial district. The tour will be followed by an informal reception.
