Tech Council director earns economic development certification
Jonathan Whitt, Executive Director of Virginia's Region 2000 Technology Council, recently earned Certified Economic Developer status through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
IEDC's Certified Economic Developers (CEcDs) are recognized around the world as having achieved a level of excellence in their understanding of the tools and programs of economic development. Candidates for this designation must pass a comprehensive two day, three-part exam which tests knowledge in economic development such as workforce development, strategic planning, and business retention and expansion.
Jonathan works with regional tech-based companies and Region 2000 localities to promote technology innovation and interests that make a positive impact on the local economy. The council also works with building the technology pipeline of workers through its "Get Set" program, career fairs, and educational academies for middle and high school students.
