2008 Technology Career Academies
View last summer's academy photos here. During the week of August 4-8, 2008, the Region 2000 Technology Council will team up with CVCC to once again offer a series of career academies for the region’s middle school students. These academies are high-quality career exploration events designed to expose middle school students to a variety of technology careers. This summer the following technology areas are being offered:
These programs are partially supported by grant funds from Tech Prep and from the National Science Foundation but additional support is needed to make these programs successful. We are seeking support from the region’s technology businesses for this project. Support can take one or more of the following forms: Financial support – Companies can provide financial support through sponsorship of one or more academies. A sponsorship level of $500 is requested. All sponsors will have their logo printed on the academy t-shirts as well as all other promotional material. Your financial support is needed to continue to grow and improve this opportunity for the region’s students to learn about career opportunities in technology. Hosting Tours – A significant part of the program for the academies includes providing the students with a first-hand look at what goes on in a technology company. Companies can host a tour during the week of the academies. Promotional Items – If you would like to donate any promotional items from your company (hats, pens, cups, etc) with your company's logo as gifts for the students they would be welcomed. Such gifts help identify your company with the regions technology sector. To participate, contact Barbara Bragg at CVCC at (434) 832-7672 |
