Technology Awards BanquetAs the premier-networking event of the year, the awards banquet recognizes the best and brightest in the region’s technology sector. Each year, we honor our corporate sponsors and the achievements in entrepreneurship, innovation, and education. 6'th Annual Technology Awards Banquet - May 20, 2008 You are invited to join the Region 2000 Technology Council for a gala evening at the Kirkley Hotel in Lynchburg on May 20, 2008 as you network with the region’s foremost technology entrepreneurs, educators, and innovators. This year’s keynote address speaker will be Dr. Robert Lindberg, President and Executive Director of the National Institute of Aerospace. Located in Hampton, VA, the NIA is a non-profit research and graduate education institute created to conduct leading-edge aerospace and atmospheric research, develop new technologies for the nation and help inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The night begins with a networking reception from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by the awards presentation and keynote address. Lindberg, Eng.Sc.D. President and Executive Director National Institute of Aerospace
Dr. Lindberg earned his B.S. in Physics (with Distinction) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, his M.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Virginia, and his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a Fellow and past president of the American Astronautical Society, and a member of Sigma Xi and Sigma Pi Sigma. He has received numerous honors including the 2003 Egleston Medal for Distinguished Engineering Achievement from Columbia University. He has published in the fields of aerospace systems design, controls, and robotics and has edited two books. He has served on committees and panels for the Naval Studies Board of the National Academies, the National Security Space Architect, and the Federal Aviation Administration, and on numerous Advisory Boards including those of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University, the Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department at Virginia Tech, and the Center for Aerospace Systems Analysis at Georgia Tech. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Air and Space Center, the Hampton Roads Research Partnership and the Hampton Roads Technology Council. Watch the video from 2007...
