Tech-Smart Pipeline
One of our three main
initiatives is the Tech-Smart Pipeline. Understanding the existing and
future employers need a workforce that are technology savvy we are
working to catalog
the existing programs and initiatives already in place within Region
2000 that support technology focused occupational training and
career choices and relay that information back out to the companies
within the region, support
financially and with the availability of a volunteer pool, those
programs that are cutting-edge examples of building a
technology-focused workforce pipeline in the region and deliver
programs and services that promote the recognition of and provide
substantial value to the Council's members. We are currently doing
this through the following activities:
-
Customized Training Classes:
In Partnership with Central
Virginia Community College, offer customized training classes to
companies seeking training in areas that are outside the scope of
normal class offerings in the area or those that have low class
enrollment.
-
Promotion and Growth:
Governor’s School of Science & Technology,
US First Robotics Team, US First Lego League, Partners in Education
Program, Summer Academies, Student Internships, Job Shadowing
-
Tech-Ed Luncheon: (Quarterly)
Lunch and Learn event that brings interaction between Tech-Ed
directors from our region's schools and representatives from local
businesses.
-
Future Focus Expo: (Annual) Held each October, this
daylong event brings together industry and education in a trade-show
format where students can explore career opportunities within Region
