Town of Amherst celebrates 100 years

Centennial Street Fair, parade and ArtMeters unveiling set for June 12

April 30, 2010

The Town of Amherst will celebrate 100 years as an incorporated town on Saturday, June 12, 2010 with a Centennial Street Fair from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. along Main Street.

The event will feature food, music, clowns, centennial merchandise, and display booths from local organizations. A new series of painted parking meters will be unveiled at 11 a.m. The town invited local artists to decorate outdated parking meters as part of an ArtMeters project that began in 2008 to help draw more visitors, shoppers and diners to downtown Amherst. A Centennial Parade will take place at 2 p.m. on South Main Street from the traffic circle to the library.
