The evening also featured guest speaker Dr. Robert Lindberg, President and Executive Director of the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) who described the role that NIA has played in expanding research capabilities and engineering education for NASA in the Hampton Roads region. His description provided a solid example for how the Center for Advanced Engineering and Research (CAER) will further develop economic growth in the greater Lynchburg region. The Technology Council played a leading role in establishing the CAER.

The Technology Council focuses on tech-based business advocacy, networking and promotion, and supporting middle and high school programs that are centered around developing a pipeline of workers in science, technology, engineering and math (S.T.E.M.).
