The Region 2000 Career Center

Job Seeker Services

The Career Center offers individuals a full assortment of career planning services including:

  • Orientation to the information and services available through the one stop system
  • Workshops on jobs success and work maturity
  • Initial assessment of skill levels, aptitudes, abilities, and supportive services needs
  • Resume making and interview preparation
  • Job search and placement assistance, and where appropriate career counseling and case management services
  • Computer lab
  • Provision of employment statistics information, including accurate information relating to local, regional, and national labor market areas including: job vacancy listing, job skills necessary to obtain the jobs listed, and information on local occupations in demand and the earnings and skill requirements for such occupations
  • Use of Resource Center for job search, copying and faxing resumes
  • Performance and cost information on eligible training providers, and information on youth services providers, adult education providers, vocational activities and education to high school dropouts, and information on providers of vocational rehabilitation
  • Educational and training assistance if WIA qualified
  • Information on local one stop performance
  • Information on availability of supportive services, including child care, and transportation available in local area and referral to services as appropriate
  • Information on filing claims for unemployment compensation and registering as a jobseeker
  • Assistance in establishing eligibility for welfare-to-work activities, and financial aid assistance for training and education programs not funded under WIA
  • Adults and dislocated worker skill upgrading, retraining, entrepreneurial training
  • Academic and aptitude testing for individuals seeking funding for training or education.
  • Information and assistance in applying for Partner agencies program such as GED classes, educational opportunities, and program referrals
